Academic Services

Writing Centre

What is the Writing Centre?

The Writing Centre offers a free service to all Briercrest students from all academic disciplines. Writing support is offered to undergraduate and graduate students of all skill levels who are seeking help with a variety of writing styles. We believe that writing is a skill that increases throughout a student's university/college experience, and the Writing Centre exists so that each student might have the opportunity to strengthen his or her writing ability.

Who staffs the Writing Centre?

A dynamic team of writers who are committed to putting the needs of their students first facilitates the learning in our Writing Centre. Our tutors are available for one-on-one consultation for all stages of the writing process, and for various forms of writing. Our tutors provide constructive advice within an informal, unintimidating atmosphere. The academic backgrounds of our tutors are diverse, and they are all capably trained by Dr. Rhoda Cairns, Assistant Professor of English.

Where is the Writing Centre?

The Writing Centre is located in the Archibald Library.

When is it open?

The hours of the Writing Centre vary from semester-to-semester based on the availability of the tutors. Be sure to check posters around the school for up-to-date information.
